Recording and Mixing with Me

I’ve been recording bands for many years, and recording is still pretty much my favorite thing in the world. I’ve tracked records in nice studios, in crappy practice spaces, and in living rooms. I’ve mixed records that were tracked halfway around the world and I’ve sent my basics off to other engineers for mixing. I’ve done live multitrack recordings at shows. I’ve driven and flown to other cities to record bands. It’s all great. I’m flexible and I love recording.

Antisleep, my studio, is in Oakland. It’s a comfortable, well-equipped two-room setup: Pro Tools HDX, Bob Hodas-tuned control room, a solid mic closet, lots of guitar gear. I can do records start to finish in this space, or, since Sharkbite Studios is down the hall, it’s also easy to track basics using Sharkbite’s big live room and 1978 Trident console, then move to Antisleep to finish. That’s a great way to work.

Here’s my discography. Here’s a gear list. And here are some session photos if you’re into that kind of thing.
